Desktop path

This page is informational in the app-shell PR. It describes the local-first direction and the planned desktop package without shipping any desktop target, connector execution, or hosted Google dependencies yet.

Planned local loop

Capture and review content on the same machine.
Mirror the Markdown collection shape used by the hosted sync path.
Schedule later syncs without making the public splash wait on that infrastructure.

What stays out

No Google sign-in or OAuth callback flow.
No background worker or sync job queue.
No interactive accounts, jobs, collections, or exports actions in this layer.

Current handoff

TODO: add the local desktop binary and Linux package in a follow-up desktop slice after the hosted shell lands.

Current boundary

If you are looking for the hosted sync experience, that work remains in the later memory + worker PR. This page exists so the hosted shell can merge earlier with a clean, honest scope while desktop packaging lands later.
